BREAST UPLIFT (MASTOPEXY)

Mastopexy is a surgical procedure that corrects a lack of firmness and sagging in breasts following breast feeding or as a result of the natural ageing process. It may be performed in conjunction with Breast Augmentation in case of breast tissue deficiency.

Prior to surgery Doctor Pat will consult with prospective patients, to determine expectations and to explain the procedure, including possible after-effects. This will also help the Doctor assess the patients’ suitability for Breast Uplift Surgery, and advice on likely results.

The procedure is carried out either under general anesthetic or under local anesthetic with sedation, meaning that the patient sleeps throughout the operation but recovery time is fast.

The Doctor makes an incision around the areola and from the areola to the breast fold. He then removes excess glandular tissue and skin before relocating the nipple and areola to a higher, more natural looking position. This procedure is often carried out in conjunction with a Mammoplasty.

Support bandages are wrapped around the breasts and patients should then return to the clinic on the next day for wound care and 10 days after surgery for the removal of the stitches. Mild pain and discomfort may be experienced post-operation, for which prescription pain medication can be used.
Some minimal scarring to the area around the areola and between the areola and the breast fold is inevitable, though this is normally inconspicuous.

BREAST REDUCTION (REDUCTION MAMMOPLASTY)

This procedure is designed for women who feel extreme self consciousness or suffer neck and back pain due to large, pendulous breasts.

Prior to surgery Doctor Pat will consult with prospective patients, to determine expectations and to explain the procedure, including possible after-effects. This will also help the Doctor assess the patients’ suitability for Breast Reduction Surgery, and advice on likely results.

The procedure is carried out either under general anesthetic or under local anesthetic with sedation, meaning that the patient sleeps throughout the operation but recovery time is fast.

The Doctor makes an incision around the areola and from the areola to the breast fold. He then removes excess fatty glandular tissue and skin, leaving the breast smaller and firmer. Depending on the nature of the reduction, it may be necessary to reposition the nipple and areola to provide a natural appearance.

Support bandages are wrapped around the breasts and patients should then return to the clinic on the next for wound care and 10 days after surgery for the removal of the stitches. Mild pain and discomfort may be experienced post-operation, for which prescription pain medication can be used.
